……Make an Anchorage Home, Your Home…..
Anchorage, Alaska. An All American City. America’s Winter City
My family moved to Alaska and made Anchorage home in 1965. They came as school teachers, just to try it. Fifty-one years later, we are still here!
What keeps Alaskans here and makes Anchorage home? To me it is all about quality of life. Average incomes have always exceeded the ‘lower 48 states,” Anchorage home values have remained consistent, schools are very good, crime rate is low, outdoor life is close and the environment is clean.
It is what I would call a small city, not a large town, and that is reason enough to call Anchorage home. You get the feeling that you are in a metropolitan area, and with that comes some anonymity, but you can know the whole area. When searching Anchorage Homes, keep in mind that most areas are only 10-15 minutes from midtown. You can keep up with the local events like Fur Rendezvous, World Championship Dog Sled Races, the Iditarod, the Mayor’s Midnight Sun Marathon, Arctic Thunder Air Show, and many more Anchorage specific activities. You can ski 2,300 vertical feet at Mt. Alyeska, play golf on one of several Championship level golf courses, ride horses at the William Clark Chamberlain Equestrian Center, play Disk Golf on several courses and yet, surrounding all Anchorage Homes, is Wild Alaska! Salmon streams teeming with Kings, Silvers and Pinks, Local, State and National Parks, the awesome Cook Inlet, and the infamous Turnagain Arm. Yes, a city in the wilderness. All Anchorage Homes offer a taste of Alaska!

Eskimo Life in Alaska...A cinematic history.
Sarah Palin never said, “I can see Russia from my house!” She did say that you can see Russia from Alaska, and you can. As a little boy, I remember hearing this. Little Diomede Island in the United States – Big Diomede Island in Russia. Both are around 660 air miles from Anchorage Homes.
Many people, even in Alaska, do not understand the cultural identity and differences of Alaska’s indiginous people. Here are the major groups of Alaska indigenous peoples: Inupiat and Yupik Eskimos, Aleuts, Athabascans, Eyaks, Tlingits, Haidas and Tsimshians. This link will give you great information on Alaska Indigenous people.
